Rev. Guy Schley

 Reverend Schley serves as the Pastoral Assistant of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of The Reverend Dr. Charles E. Booth. He has served as Chaplain and Director of Development at Isabelle Ridgway Care Center. He has completed two (2) years of post-graduate work in ethics at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. He served as chaplain of the Florida State University Men’s Basketball Team in Tallahassee, FL.

Reverend Schleyis mentored by an array of spiritual and professional individuals that included the late The Reverend Dr. Gardner C. Taylor.

Reverend Schley has submitted the totality of his being; i.e., mind, body and soul, (Colossians 3:23) to doing the Will of God who called him into the Christian ministry.

Reverend Schley is a life member of Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, Inc. and serves as of the Vice President of Midwest Region. He is a member and served as correspondence secretary of The Baptist Ministerial Alliance of Columbus and Vicinity. He served as treasurer of The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Columbus and Vicinity. He is a life member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He served as Chaplain of the Columbus, Ohio, Alumni Chapter and the East Central Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Member and served as Past Master of King David Lodge No.116 of Free & Accepted Prince Hall Masons. Past Excellent High Priest of John C. Logan Chapter No. 53 Royal Arch Mason in Columbus, Ohio of The Most Excellent Prince Hall Grand Chapter of Ohio Royal Arch Masons. He was Principal Conductor of Work in Herald Council #3 in Columbus, OH of Most Illustrious Prince Hall Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters State of Ohio and Jurisdiction. Member of L.D. Easton Consistory No. 21 of the United Supreme Council Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Northern Jurisdiction, USA, Inc. Prince Hall Affiliation Orient of Ohio. In August 2018 he was elected in the Membership of the PGA of America.

Reverend Schley earned both Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in Delaware, Ohio in 1999. He served on the Racial Diversity Task Force and was the first Black African-American elected to serve as Campus Council President while on the campus of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.

Reverend Schley is a graduate of Florida A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion in 1995.

Reverend Schley during his college was the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. He was selected “Outstanding Young Man in America” in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Rev. Schley is the co-author of an article published in a national educational journal entitled, “Remedial and Special Education” volume 22 number 1 January and February 2001. In May 2002, he visited South Africa as part of a Missions delegation from the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. While in South Africa Rev. Schley was privileged to preach at the Kagiso Baptist Church and lecture at the South African Baptist Convention Bible College in Soweto. In January 2003, Reverend Schley’s devotional message, A Walk with God! was published in Judson Press’s “From One Brother to Another: Voices of African American Men” Volume 2, edited by Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. In 2011, his tribute to Mrs. Isabelle Ridgway was published in Historic Columbus A Bicentennial History edited by Ed Lentz.

Reverend Schley is married to Uffa, his devoted, loving and supportive wife. Reverend Schley rejoices and is proud that he comes from a loving and supportive family with parents who nurtured him in the Christian faith.
